1. Logging On: Go to Yahoo! (http://www.yahoo.com) and click on Check Email.
2. Logging On: Enter Yahoo! name and password (as created in last class)
3. Logging On: You will see the contents of your email (and some ads too!)
4. Logging On: Click on inbox to see the contents of your inbox.
5. Deleting Messages: Scroll down to any message that you want to delete.
6. Deleting Messages: Click on the box next to the messages you want to delete .
7. Deleting Messages: Click the Delete button.
8. Deleting Messages: The message you deleted will no longer be visible.
9. Creating Folders: On the left hand side of the screen click on the word Folders.
10. Creating Folders: Click the word add next to the word Folder.
11. Creating Folders: A dialog box will prompt you for a name. Name the folder MT34801
12. Creating Folders: The folder you created will now be visible.
13. Filing Folders: On the left hand side click back into your Inbox.
14. Filing Folders: When you are viewing you Inbox click on the boxes of all the messages you want to file into MT34801 .
15. Filing Folders: On the lower right hand side click on the arrow that says Choose Folder.
16. Filing Folders: Move your mouse down to MT34801.
17. Filing Folders: Click the Move button.
18. Filing Folders: The messages you moved will now be in the MT34801 folder.
19. Address Book: Toward the top of the screen click on the tab that says Addresses.
20. Address Book: Click on the words New Contact.
21. Address Book: In the appropriate boxes type in the information of a person you would like to add to your address book. If you can not think of anyone you can add your own information.
22. Address Book: Yahoo! ID is the name you log into Yahoo! with.
23. Address Book: Nickname is a shortcut to typing an entire name. For example, instead if you are putting your Mother's information in the address book you can type Mom in the nickname section. In this case, when you write her an email you can simply type Mom in the To: section. For more information on Nicknames, click on the link next to it. Another example is typing the word CLASSLIST as a nickname and having the email address be mt34801@yahoogroups.com
24. Address Book: Click the Save button.
25. Address Book: Click the Done button.
26. Address Book: The contact information you added will now be in your address book.
27. Composing Email with Address Book: Click the Mail tab at the top left of the screen to get back to your inbox.
28. Composing Email with Address Book: On the top left hand side of the screen click on the word Compose.
29. Composing Email with Address Book: Fill in the appropriate information in the specific boxes. Use the nickname feature discussed earlier in the To field. Be sure to put a spelling error in the message as well.
30. Composing Email with Address Book: Your email will come up with that persons email address in the To:
31. Spell Checking an Email Message: Click on the Spell Check button.
32. Spell Checking an Email Message: If there are any misspelled words, you will see them in a box. Click on the ? next to the box. That will open up a dialog box that offers choices for your misspelled word.
33. Spell Checking an Email Message: If you want to make the changes they are suggesting click the Change button.
34. Spell Checking an Email Message: The changes you made will now be reflected..
35. Spell Checking an Email Message: Click the Save as Draft button when finished making spelling changes.
36. Spell Checking an Email Message: Click on the subject of the message to get back to the email.
37. Attaching Files to an Email Message : Click on the words Attach File (next to Attachments) above the body of the email.
38. Attaching Files to an Email Message : You will be brought to a screen that will allow you to browse all the files on your computer. Click on the Browse
39. Attaching Files to an Email Message : Click on the Browse button.
40. Attaching Files to an Email Message : Find the file you would like to attach. Highlight it and click the Open button.
41. Attaching Files to an Email Message : Click the Attach Files button. You will see the file that you browsed for is now attached.
42. Attaching Files to an Email Message : Click the Done button and you will be brought back to your email.
43. Attaching Files to an Email Message : Click the Send button and your email message and attachment will be sent to the recipient. For this assignment you must send an email with an attachment to mt34801@yahoogroups.com.
1. Easy Upload/FTP: On the GeoCities homepage click on Upload/FTP. This is another way to transfer files from one person to another. You will hand in some homework assignment and/or midterm/final projects like this.
2. Easy Upload/FTP: At the bottom of the page click on the boxes next to Automatically convert names to lowercase and Automatically change .htm extensions to .html. Make sure that there IS a check in these boxes. Then Click on button that says Browse.
3. Easy Upload/FTP: Clicking on the button that says Browse will allow you to find a file on your computer and upload (move a copy of it) to the web. Find a .htm or .html file, click on it and press the Open button. Reminder - you can upload any file you choose, it does not have to be a .htm or .html.
4. Easy Upload/FTP: Clicking on another button that says Browse. This, again, will allow you to find a file on your computer and upload (move a copy of it) to the web. This time find a .doc click on it and press the Open button. Reminder - you can upload any file you choose, it does not have to be a .doc.
5. Easy Upload/FTP: Now, you will see the files that you want to upload to the web next to the browse buttons. Click on the Upload Files Button and your files will begin to upload.
6. Easy Upload/FTP: Once your files have been uploaded you will see a confirmation telling you what files were successfully uploaded. Now click on the word Home in the top right corner to begin the final portion of tonight's lesson.
7. File Manager: Once you are back on the GeoCities homepage, click on the words File Manager on the far right hand side under Advanced Toolbox.
8. File Manager: Make sure that the button next to Show is clicked ON. Also make sure that there ARE checks in the boxes next to html, gif, jpeg and other. Where it says list files with: make sure that the word that follows it is Any. The click on the words Open File Manager.

We are going to view the files that were just uploaded and find out what their address is on the web. First locate the file uploadinghtmlfile.html then click on the word View which is to the right of it.
